Superman Returns

October 23, 2006: “Superman Returns” Hits $200 Million Mark

While it was never anything more than an unsubstantiated rumor, many film pundits had placed the magical $200 million domestic target that "Superman Returns" needed to get to for Warner Bros. to green light a sequel.

Although Alan Horn (head of Warner Bros.), Legendary Pictures (who helped fund "Superman Returns"), and director Bryan Singer had all come out and said a sequel was going to happen, many nay sayers stuck to their guns and doomed the idea of a sequel on the premise that "Superman Returns" would never make that magical dollar figure.

Although no official announcement regarding a sequel has been made by Warner Bros. yet, today, "Superman Returns" crossed the $200 million domestic figure in the U.S.
