Who's Who in the Superman Comics

Supermen of America

During the period where Superman was patrolling the earth 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Supermen of America were formed. The death of Junior K-D (lead singer of the band "Crossfire") planted the seed for the formation of the group when Outburst (a new teen Super-hero) realised that something had to be done in Metropolis in the absence of the Man of Steel. Lex Luthor also recognised the potential of such a group, and set about recruiting Outburst and other young meta-humans to galvanize Metropolis' youth against gang warfare and violence, dubbing them "The Supermen of America". The team consists of the magnetically powered Outburst (Mitch Andersen) a devoted fan of the Man of Steel since he saved his mother and baby sister from the rampaging Doomsday; White Lotus (Nona Lin-Baker), the only female member who is adept in martial arts enhanced by a mystic auar; The Loser (Theo Storm) who possess a powerful dermal force field; Pyrogen (Claudio Tielli) a pyrokinetic; and Brahma (Cal Usjak) a super-strong and near invulnerable power-house. A sixth founding member, Psilencer (Tim Townsend) had the ability to combine narrow fields of pre-science and telepathy to his advantage as "tactical intuition" but was sadly shot dead in a fight with gang members.
