Who's Who in the Superman Comics

The Circle

A group of 'enhanced' humans, who believe themselves to be God's first creation before Man. Superman first encountered them when they tried to establish contact with him during his assault on Qurac. The Circle initially believed Superman to be one of them, the chosen one, on account of his special abilities. Prana was sent to probe his mind, but died as a result of the strain put upon him. Subsequently, Prana's widow then decided to send another of the Circle, Sthula (Concussion) out to try to kill Superman in revenge. Concussion was defeated and incarcerated at Strykers Island, until Charger (another member of the Circle) broke him out. Superman was led to the headquarters of the Circle, where they asked for his help in leaving Earth. Superman agreed, and the Circle disappeared.

First Appearance: AOS #427 (April 1987)
