Who's Who in the Superman Comics

Happy Harbor

A small New England town on the outskirts of Metropolis, Happy Harbor, Rhode Island, has had its share of supernatural activity over the years. One of the targets of the intergalactic conqueror Starro, the city was saved by young resident Snapper Carr and the Justice League of America. At the conclusion of this case, the Justice League constructed their Secret Sanctuary - in a mountain outside of the city.

In time, the JLA departed their base, for a newer location. At this point, the uncanny Doom Patrol moved into the Secret Sanctuary, and actually sacrificed itself when the Brotherhood of Evil threatened to destroy the municipality.

Many moons later, the Secret Sanctuary was reactivated, when the Justice League rebuilt itself to become a superior crime fighting outfit once more. And more recently, Superman and the Justice League utilized the Secret Sanctuary as a headquarters, while they defeated an invasion of White Martians.

To date, Happy Harbor remains a quiet New England center for commerce and culture. But with the Secret Sanctuary still in existence, it's likely that The World's Greatest Super-Heroes will utilize this base, and the city - as an outpost in the eternal war against evil.
