Who's Who in the Superman Comics

Blaze

A female demon. First appearing as the human Angelica Blaze and owner of a Metropolis nightclub, this demon considers herself ruler of a hellish other dimension (Hades) and is often in search of souls to capture. In her first encounter with Superman she seized the souls of Jimmy Olsen and Jerry White (Perry White's son) after they were shot. Superman went to Blaze's netherworld to battle for their souls. Jimmy Olsen survived after Jerry White sacrificed himself. Blaze is also responsible for the villains Skyhook and Silver Banshee. When a demonic ancestor of the Banshee escaped Blaze's circle of Hell, it tricked Superman into helping takeover the netherworld and nearly killed Blaze. Later, Blaze tried using Superman as a pawn hoping to kill her brother Lord Satanus, but only forced him into exile in Metropolis. Blaze recently fought with the demon Neron and was revealed to be the daughter of the wizard Shazam.

First Appearance (only heard speaking): SUP #34 (Aug. 1989)
First Appearance: ACT #655 (July 1990)
