Catwoman
The alter ego of Selina Kyle, Catwoman is an enigmatic rogue who is often romantically linked to Batman. Ultimately trapped on the wrong side of the law by her very nature of being a thief, Catwoman has managed to aid Batman and even Superman when the need arises.Few adventurers can match Catwoman's agility and stealth thievery. Apparently lacking super-powers, she comes and goes as she pleases throughout public and private properies. Indeed, she is the world's greatest thief, unmatched by anyone. Perhaps her greatest weapon is her romantic hold over The Batman. This diehard crimefighter, second only to Superman in legend, cannot compel himself to deliver The Catwoman to justice. And even when he has attempted to do so, Ms. Kyle has conveniently escaped legal detention time and time again.
The Catwoman has changed her costumes over the many moons in operation, but her love for cats and her feral motiff have been a constant. Another constant is her use of a whip, which she employs as a weapon and grappling apparatus.
Most recently, Selina Kyle gave birth to a daughter and has retired from her Catwoman identity.
First Appearance (Historical): Batman #1 (Spring 1940)
