Last week, Leviathan met with the Legion of Doom. Lex Luthor and Leviathan met with Red Cloud yesterday. They plan to kill Superman in an area where he cannot use full power to fight. That happens to be Metropolis. Now, with the Justice League and its allies all but defeated, the city is a burning inferno.

5Story - 5: It relies mostly on flashbacks, thereby prolonging the plot for the hardcover and trade market. However, this issue is still an entertaining one. There are plot threads peppered throughout the book that make me want to read the upcoming chapters in Bendis' run to see how everything plays out. That's part of the fun of his superhero comics. He's given the reader a new look at Superman and his universe while making that look feel like the classic one seen in the best tales of the Man of Steel.

4Art - 4: Some characters look a little off in this issue. In spite of that, Romita's art still is among the best out there.

4Cover Art - 4: Even if Superman is in the shadows, Luthor looks a bit strange even as Apex Lex. Romita needs to work a little more on his DC characters.

5Variant Cover Art - 5: This variant is better than the last one, and I loved the last one.
