All hope seems lost as the Justice League's forces must regroup. The symbol of Doom is burned across the skies in the multiverse. Things look grimmer as Perpetua has destroyed Earth-19, the Gotham By Gaslight dimension. Superman and the rest of the Justice League will not only need a plan. They'll need a plan of omniverse saving proportions. Otherwise, Perpetua and the forces of Doom will plunge all that exists into darkness.
Hawkgirl and Shayne are lost in space. In the midst of Batman assisting them via subspace, Apex Lex Luthor and Perpetua strand them even deeper in the cosmos. In the meantime, Lex has been granted all the power which he desires provided he does what he's wanted to do for a long time - kill the Justice League.
Story - 5: To say this this book is incredible is an understatement. This arc in particular has gotten to be as epic as some of the company wide crossovers of the Bronze Age. (Crisis on Infinite Earths anyone?) I think I've said at least a million times that this book is one to binge read from beginning to end alongside the likes of The Walking Dead, Marvel's original Conan and Micronauts runs and All-Star Squadron. It's that good and fun to read. This issue proves that in spades.
Art - 5: Francis Manapul seems to be channeling various art styles while not losing his own. I'll go as far as say he fuses them all in the same way Prince blended music genres with such albums as Sign O' The Times, Emancipation and 3121. Manapul gave us art that gives readers the sense of how epic this story and title are.
Cover Art - 5: DC clearly wants to sell "Year of the Villain" posters. I'm just kidding – I think. In spite of that, the cover art is amazing.
Variant Cover Art - 5: While I'm not all that familiar with Tyler Kirkham's work, he did a fantastic job on this variant.
