December 8, 2011: Jerry Robinson Dies Aged 89

Jerry Robinson Jerry Robinson, who created The Joker, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday night, he was 89 years old.

While The Joker is undoubtably Robinson's biggest contribution to the comic book world, he was also very instrumental in the late 1970s in lobbying DC Comics to come to a financial settlement that restored Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's names on every Superman comic.
