On top of a building, Batman confronts Jason Todd. The two discuss the Leviathan attacks before Batman tells the former Robin what happened with Sam Lane and The Question. At the hospital, an agent of Leviathan attempted to murder Lane. The would-be assassin was shot and killed by Lane. The Leviathan agent was previously a part of A.R.G.U.S. before switching sides.

At the morgue, Plastic Man was tasked with finding any information on the agent. While there, Leviathan appeared to collect the dead body. An attempt to recruit the stretchy hero is made, but as quickly as he arrived, Leviathan vanishes.

Back on the rooftop, Batman and his team of detectives - Damian Wayne, Green Arrow, Lois Lane, The Question, Plastic Man, and an unnamed character confront Jason. The team believes that Todd may be connected to Leviathan and begin to chase him.

3Story - 3: I know we're only two issues into a six issue story, but I was hoping for some sleuthing. Perhaps we'll get it in future issues, but so far, Bendis has just been telling us what the team has discovered without showing how they arrived at that conclusion. Jason being tied to Leviathan is essentially explained through two sentences and even still, I'm not sure how exactly he's connected to the organization.

On a more positive note, I appreciate the framing device Bendis uses for this issue. It fills us in on events that happened off-panel while simultaneously keeping us with the action. It's certainly an effective tool to tell your story when your characters are on a deadline. Hopefully we don't see this show up in future issues. It's good for kickstarting your story, but not so much elsewhere.

4Art - 4: I quite like the mood and atmosphere given off by the art. I wouldn't go so far as to call it pulpy, but it certainly has a quality that lends itself to the tone of the book. Sometimes a face will look a little weird, but it isn't too common to be a legitimate issue.

3Cover Art - 3: The main cover for this issue is fine. I appreciate what Maleev was going for, but it falls a little flat in the execution. Perhaps it's the texture of the image or the color scheme. Something about this piece just doesn't work for me. If I were browsing the comic shelves and I saw this, I'd likely pass it up. As a side note: Plastic Man's face bothers me.

3Variant Cover Art - 3: Unsurprisingly, the piece by Jason Fabok looks good. That's about as much as I can give this piece. It's well drawn, but it's so boring. Outside of Leviathan's face hovering in the background, what makes this different from any other Batman piece Fabok has done? Granted, this cover is more appealing that the standard cover, but it's still rather uninspired.
