Smallville

October 25, 2001: "Smallville" Continues Its Excellent Ratings

KryptonSite reports that the WB has put in a full season order for "Smallville" after the excellent performance of the first two episodes. Usually networks wait a few weeks before making full season orders; it is a sign of the WB's confidence in the show that this comes so early.

The show again scored well in the ratings for its second episode "Metamorphosis" on Tuesday October 23rd.

The show retained in excess of 90 percent of its premiere audience across many key demographics and built on its lead-in, finished No. 1 in its time period in men 18-34 (4.3 rating/12 share), No. 2 in adults 18-34 (4.1/11), No. 2 in women 18-34 (3.9/10), No. 1 in persons 12-34 (4.2/12), No. 2 in women 12-34 (4.2/12, up from its premiere), No. 1 for the night in men 12-34 (4.1/13), No. 3 in its time period in men 18-49 (3.2/9), No. 1 in teens (4.5/15), No. 1 in female teens (5.2/17) and No. 1 in male teens (3.8/14).

"Smallville" also defeated Fox's "Dark Angel" in total viewers (7.3 million to 4.4 million) in the time period.

The show's rating in men 18-34 (4.3/12) and men 18-49 (3.2/9) were the second best in network history, trailing only its premiere last week. Smallville's score in adults 18-34 (4.1/11) and adults 18-49 (3.4/9) both placed in the top 10 in The WB's history.
