Clark Kent (Tom Welling)

October 9, 2001: Thou Shalt Watch "Smallville"

KryptonSite reports that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office of Film and Broadcasting recently did a review of the fall season's new TV series. The reviews, printed by Catholic News Services in southern California, are in the current edition (October 5th) of "The Tidings" (the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles), and most likely were also printed in numerous other Catholic diocesan newspapers around the country. Many of the shows reviewed were criticized and labeled as "Don't Bother", but Smallville was seen in a positive light and marked as "Holds Promise". Here's what was written about Smallville in the review...

"Drama about the teen years of Superman's Clark Kent growing up in Kansas with the parents who adopted him as their own after the alien todler landed on earth during a meteor shower.

Holds Promise: An intriguing premise with interesting chracters and above-average acting that explores adolescent alienation and yearning while working in themes of family and friendship."
