March 9, 2001: On the set of "Smallville"
My inside source, (let's call her "Chloe") sent me the following report from the first day of location shooting on the set of "Smallville"..."I'm here on the first day of shooting in Cloverdale, B.C. today. I was here working as an extra, poking around and checking things out.
The whole town has been painted red and yellow and everything says GO CROWS, which looks like it might be for a homecoming parade or something. Looked like Kansas and it was pretty cool to see the red and yellow with the big blue sky in the background. At one point they made it look like a distaster struck and people were running everywhere.
Tom Welling is one really tall guy. He looks very Clark-ish in a Christopher Reeve sort of way. Tall like Clark in SUPERMAN FOR ALL SEASONS. Pete (Ross) also looks pretty good. Some lady I saw on X-Files plays Nell Lang (Lana's Aunt). I think her name is Sarah-Jane Redmond (pictured).
All in all, it was a good day. They fed us well and it was pretty sunny. It was amazing to be right in the heart of Smallville."
