Michael Rosenbaum

December 19, 2001: Praise for Michael Rosenbaum

On Monday, December 17th the San Jose Mercury News published an article titled "Let's hear it for the actors who make small parts great" written by Charlie McCollum. One of the actors mentioned in the article is Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luthor in "Smallville". Here's what the article had to say about him:

Michael Rosenbaum is one of those character actors whose work has always been better than the series they're on. (If you don't even remember his first two series, "The Tom Show" and "Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane," you're not the only one.) This season, though, he got the juicy part of Lex Luthor on "Smallville" (9pm Tuesdays, Ch. 11, 20), the well-done retelling of the Superman legend. The great part about Rosenbaum's performance is that he makes Luthor a sympathetic troubled young man and not merely an arch-villain-to-be.

In other "Smallville" news, Tom Welling (Clark Kent) is mentioned on the cover and featured in a one-page bio in YM magazine's "Stars" special. The show itself is featured in the XPose 2001-2002 Yearbook Special (#18), where the magazine talks with executive producer Alfred Gough. While the January 2002 edition of the UK magazine Dreamwatch features a 1 page article entitled "Smallville Hits Big" discussing how Smallville is "a soar-away ratings smash".
