Animated Justice League

August 6, 2001: Animated Justice League Wrap-Up

Comics2Film delivered the final installment of Xum Yukinori's extensive coverage of the Justice League presentation from the recent Comic-Con in San Diego.

Here are some excerpts from that report:

Timm stated that the first episode "starts on Mars, and quickly comes to Earth."

Metropolis is "ground zero for an alien invasion" in the first episode, and at one point things look pretty hopeless (as denoted by an "The End is Near" message spray-painted on a building wall). "So it's a happy show," Timm added. Another slide revealed that a "great DC icon", the Daily Planet globe, will sustain heavy damage.

Other background slides revealed that the premiere episode will have some scenes in Paris, as well as in an "Area-51"-type installation.

The invading aliens look like translucent, humanoid-shaped, energy beings. There were some shots of what Timm described as "alien factories" and "alien pod things", but no further details. "It's a whole big mystery," he exclaimed.

While there was no time for a Q&A session, Timm did reveal that they are planning "something with a JSA-type, crossover-type story." He did manage to convince the Con programmers to show the Justice League clip one more time for the audience, prompting one fan to yell out, "Bruce is God!"

"Thank you, my son," Timm solemnly replied.
