October 8, 2008: Major Superman Supporting Character Dead - SPOILER ALERT
According to the website for New York newspaper The Daily News, a major Superman supporting character dies in this week's "Action Comics #870", which hits comic book shops today. SPOILER: As foreshadowed for several months, Jonathan Kent, Superman's adoptive father, died of a heart attack at the age of 69.
According to the Daily News article, writer Geoff Johns, the current writer of "Action Comics", said "It was probably the most difficult scene I've ever had to write... That's why there's no dialogue in the scene, there's nothing left to say."
