New Krypton

December 4, 2008: Wizard Magazine's Krypton Q&A Now Online

Wizard #206 (December 2008) featured an in-depth interview with Geoff Johns, Sterling Gates and James Robinson regarding the "New Krypton" saga and what's going on in Superman and Supergirl comics. The "Krypton Q&A" is now online for anyone who didn't purchase the magazine.

How does the crossover work thematically from book to book?

JOHNS: There's one big story overall in the three books, but each individual book will pick up and focus on threads that they started. I deal with a lot of the fallout of Brainiac during "New Krypton."

ROBINSON: And there will be a mysterious villain who will be in all three books.

JOHNS: Every title will continue into one another, but at the same time, you'll really see a focus on individual titles - certain characters will get spotlighted. Supergirl obviously focuses on her and her past and her parents. Action focuses on the aftermath of Brainiac and Pa Kent and Kandor. And Superman will continue a lot of James' mysterious threads in the Atlas storyline.

ROBINSON: Plus, in Superman, I think you're going to get a little more of the day-to-day Metropolis stuff going on so that doesn't get lost in the big picture. We're going to work to define Metropolis and give it more of its own sense of identity the way that Gotham has now.

JOHNS: The Justice League shows up because you've got 100,000 Kryptonians, but what does that mean? Does that mean there's 100,000 Supermen? Is Earth the safest place in the universe?
