Superman Confidential #12

February 22, 2008: B. Clay Moore Talks “Superman Confidential”

WizardUniverse.com has published an interview with writer B. Clay Moore discussing his up-coming run on "Superman Confidential" starting with issue #12 out this week. Here's an excerpt from the interview...

Were you asked to do this particular story, or did you come up with the idea of Superman and Jimmy's signal watch yourself?

Mike just asked me to pitch some ideas, and I knew Superman continuity has always been kind of fluid, and I knew with Superman Confidential you didn't have to worry about what's going on in current continuity. And this was before Countdown, so it was before everyone was kind of sick of Jimmy Olsen. But I was trying to think about what adjustments Superman would have made during his early days in Metropolis. I liked the idea of Jimmy as an ambitious, over-bearing cub reporter. And I thought probably one of the first things Superman would had to deal with is the fact that he's got this red-headed pain in the ass who all of a sudden looks up and thinks, "Wow, I've got a guardian angel over my shoulder." So, I thought it would be fun to examine how a young Superman might deal with Jimmy, and I thought that led naturally into the signal watch. And I kind of revisited Toyman a little bit - classic Superman villain, but a little cheesy.
