DC Nation

February 26, 2008: WonderCon 2008 - DCU: Countdown to Crisis Panel

By Jeffrey Taylor

The audience was joined on Saturday by Dan Didio, Bob Wayne, Jann Jones, Mike Carlin, Kurt Busiek, Adam Beechen and Judd Winick.

J. Michael Staczynski also made a brief appearance before rushing off to a signing. Having just signed on to write at DC, he explained that his favorite character is Superman and that he hopes to work on something in that area. (Superman/Batman might be nice?)

Busiek explained that Trinity was originally pitched as 7 pages a week and slowly grew to 12, then 22.

Carlin went on to explain that the first 12 pages of each issue of Trinity will be the main story with Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman, but that the 10 page back-ups will still be part of the main story, just not necessarily involving those three. The first back up will introduce some villains and the second will be the start of a battle.

When asked about the future of Jimmy Olsen, Carlin teased the audience by saying that the cover to Countdown #2 will feature a giant turtle-boy. Also Geoff Johns and James Robinson have big plans for him in the near future.

The Legion of Superheroes will appear in DC Universe #0.

Supergirl may appear in Tiny Titans at some point, but there are no specific plans at this point.

There will be a story where Power Girl will visit Earth-2, but they weren't sure when or couldn't announce anything specific.

The Great Disaster and Final Crisis are NOT the same thing.

Dan Didio teased: "The big story of Final Crisis? It's the day that evil wins."

When asked about the Kuberts, Adam is still finishing up Last Son (met with groans) and will work on some miniseries after that.

A Lex Luthor mini-series has been planned, but no details were available yet.
