June 18, 2008: Interview with "Superman/Batman" Writing Team
Wizard Universe has an interview with the current writers of "Superman/Batman", Michael Green and Mike Johnson. The writing pair discuss the end of their first story arc "The Search for Kryptonite" in "Superman/Batman" # 49, which hits comic stores today. Green hints at things to come after this story arc. In addition, he explains what motivated "The Search for Kryptonite" in the first place:
- When you're looking at Superman and Batman, you're always thinking about what's a story that's big enough for them both. What's a story that could bring them together and bring some conflict? The search for Kryptonite is just one of those things that go back to those conversations you have when you're 8 years old about comic characters... And now we're old enough that people ask us what we'd like to see Superman and Batman do. And I thought, "How come he doesn't just go around the world and clean up all the Kryptonite?" I just wanted to make one of those stories where people say, "Why hasn't anyone ever done that?" I looked back in the archives and realized, "Oh my god. No one's ever done that." So, we did.
