Supergirl #26

February 8, 2008: Kelley Pucket Talks Supergirl

WizardUniverse.com has published an interview with "Supergirl" writer Kelley Pucket, asking him about writing the Maid of Might, his style of writing, and more. Here's an excerpt from the interview...

Would you say that having the character act out her personality rather than speak it is something you focus on in your writing in general?

That's really just kind of my style of writing. Artists generally like that because they're into comics because they like visual storytelling so they like the chance to do some every once in a while. [Laughs] To tell the story through the images, but its also much harder on the artist because they also have to convey things that most writers would just spell out. But that's just kind of how I write. It's an issue in that I find it more powerful in comics if the images can tell the story. And the drawback sometimes is that I'm not as clear as I should be. I don't want to confuse people. [Laughs] I want them to know what's supposed to be happening so they can get into the story, so it's something I have to watch out for. I try to make things clear, but I do like the images to tell the story rather than have it told in dialogue... or God forbid, thought captions.
