February 16, 2009: KryptoNate Slam Dunks Superman Howard
You'll recall that last year Dwight Howard won the NBA Slam Dunk championship when he donned a Superman cape in his last dunk. This year Superman was beaten by deadly Kryptonite... actually KryptoNate. Here's the report from DallasNews.com...
- Dwight Howard, the defending slam dunk champion, again donned his cape.
But it wasn't enough to fight off Nate Robinson and his kryptonite green jersey and shoes.
The New York guard came up with the stunt last year while watching Howard win the event. On this night, Robinson soared over the top of Howard for his final dunk to reclaim the title he first won three years ago.
Robinson, dubbed Kryptonate by his agent, asked Howard in an elevator Friday if he could scale the Orlando Magic All-Star if he made the final round.
"It's all about having fun," Howard said. "Hey, he won fair and square.
"The fans loved it."
