January 29, 2009: Superman Ride Improvements Approved for Six Flags New England

Massachusetts newspaper The Republican reported yesterday that the Zoning Board with authority over Six Flags New England approved a special permit to allow upgrades to the Superman: Ride of Steel roller coaster. The upgrades will include the addition of fog banks, fire bursts, and audio, according to Melissa Pinkerton, public relations manager for Six Flags.

The park opens April 10, 2009 but the upgraded Superman coaster, with the audio and visual enhancements, is scheduled to open Saturday May 23, 2009 during the Memorial Day 2009 weekend.
