August 8, 2009: More DC Toon Tumblers

By Barry Freiman

At last year's Wizard World Chicago 2008, Toon Tumblers presented the first of its heavy tumbler glasses to announce its relationship with DC Comics. Since then, the first set of DC tumblers saw an early 2009 release - which included Superman (in a classic pose from artist Neal Adams).

At this year's Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con 2009, Toon Tumblers introduced three new glasses, two of which feature Superman. The first is a picture of the Justice Society of America of Earth-2 in a classic depiction first seen on the back cover of an early 1970s Justice League of America tabloid edition. The second glass has the Justice League of America in the same pose as the JSA is on their glass - the JLA picture is taken from the front cover of that same tabloid. The third glass is the Hal Jordan Green Lantern.

In addition, one of the people working the Toon Tumblers booth disclosed that the next series of glasses includes Black Lightning, Poison Ivy, and Green Arrow. In addition, there's a glass pitcher coming (which was supposed to be ready for San Diego Comic-Con and is late, according to the vendor at the Chicago Con) with the Justice League and Justice Society pictures from their individual glasses. In addition, the company will be producing a line of shot glasses with DC characters on them in the near future.
