Siegel House

January 7, 2009: Update on Siegel House Restoration

Cleveland.com has posted a report updating us on the current status of the efforts to restore the home where Jerry Siegel lived when he dreamed up the idea for Superman.

    Since the auction ended, workers have torn down the house's two chimneys. One was rebuilt and the second one was removed.

    Workers also repaired the leaking roof, which was paramount to stopping further damage, said Tracey Kirksey, executive director of the Glenville Development Corp. and a board member of the Siegel and Shuster Society.

    Kirksey said the repairs are being arranged around the schedules of the house's owners, Hattie and Jefferson Gray, so as not to completely disrupt their lives.
