March 14, 2009: "Action Comics #1" Sells for $317,200
The issue of "Action Comics #1" that was up for auction online has sold for US$317,200.00.The auction began online at ComicConnect.com on February 27 and ended yesterday, March 13.
Bids in the online auction immediately topped US$200,000 when it first began, but last-minute bids put the comic over the US$300,000 mark.
UPDATE: There were 89 bids in total for the rare and unrestored comic, with John Dolmayan (the drummer from rock band "System of a Down") being the ultimate winner. The seller's identity was never revealed.
