September 13, 2003: Turner and Kelly's Superman Stint

Newsarama caught up with Joe Kelly and Michael Turner to discuss with them their siz-part Superman story set to start in February 2004. Here's an excerpt from the article...

As for specifics, the story will run through the three books, starting with "Action Comics #812", and then to "Adventures of Superman #625", then to "Superman #202", then "Action #813", "Adventures #626" and come to a conclusion in "Superman #203".

Essentially, the story's title could be called "While You Were Out," as it largely follows Superman's adventures after the Man of Steel goes missing from earth, and his friends and family.

And yes, Superman does get a bike.

A nice bike.

"DC had an idea for the six-part story, and they approached us to do it, originally," Turner said. "At the start, it had some different writer options on it, and either they just didn't work out, or for other reasons the writer wouldn't be able to do it. All the time while we were talking with DC about doing the Superman story, we were coming up with some cool ideas to add to the story, so they finally just asked us to take a crack at it. They wanted to bring Joe Kelly on there as well, and wanted Talent to draw it - and he's already well into the first issue, and it's looking great."
