July 22, 2003: Superman News from the San Diego Comic Con

Newsarama published a detailed report on the Saturday DCU panel at the San Diego Comic Con, with the following information relevant to Superman fans...

In talking about Superman: Birthright, Waid said that it is the best time he's ever had writing comics, adding, "If you think you know the stort of Superman, you really don't."

Jeph Loeb said that Superman/Batman will run in six-issue arcs, with a resolution of the "President Luthor" situation coming by the end of issue #6. Loeb said that he's packing in the guest stars with the series, and was inspired by Grant Morrison's JLA and Kingdom Come in regards to keeping the feel of the book epic.

When asked about a possible change in Superman titles, Didio said that changes are coming soon, and an announcement will come shortly.

In other San Diego Comic Con announcements, writer Bill Willingham made the following comment to CBR News Sunday at the convention, "We might find out if the entire comics readership decides that I am the man who thoroughly wrecked Superman and that's all I'm saying."

While Geoff Johns and Judd Winick responded to fan please to join the Superman creative teams by saying that Superman fans don't need to worry about Superman and should look forward to announcements at Wizard World in Chicago.
