Superman #200

November 28, 2003: Steven Seagle Talks “Superman #200”

Newsarama have published an article all about the up-coming changes in the Superman comic book titles, with details from Steven T. Seagle about what we can expect from "Superman #200". Here's an excerpt from the article...

"Since day one, Superman #200 was intended to be the end point for a number of the story elements we had been working on since Superman: The 10 Cent Adventure," Seagle said. "The Futuresmith agenda and a revelation of who and/or what they are... Supergirl (Cir-El's) place in the Kent family tree... the death of Lois... lots of exciting things have been planned since day one! We won't be doing the follow up, which was also going to be a big departure, but the end of Superman #200 really offers a departure from the Superman status quo and should set up the superstar team following us well.

"The general structure of the story is a rocket ride to points farther and farther (or is that further and further?) into the future. Superman is very much a product of his past, and this story serves to remind him that his future is built one step at a time and plays as much a role in who he is and what he does as everything that has gone into making him up to this point.

"Fans can look for some cool future versions of favorite DC heroes like Batman (who makes a shocking choice about his crime fighting technique that quite literally transforms him) and Wonder Woman to show up as we travel to the Futuresmith's future."

According to editor Eddie Berganza, Superman #200 does more than wrap up Seagle's storylines. "It puts the conclusion of one of the major storylines that has been lingering from when my first new team - the one included Jeph Loeb and Joe Kelly - took over," Berganza said. "The story's got to do with who these Futuresmith characters are, what future they want to see and why. It's also about what role Cir-El, the new Supergirl, has been playing".
