Smallville #6

November 17, 2003: “Smallville”: Internet, Comic and TV Series Get Tighter

"Smallville" comic book artist Tom Derenick has announced that Warner Brothers and DC are developing a tighter symbiotic relationship when it comes to telling the tales of the hit television series "Smallville" and the life of pre-Superman Clark Kent, linking the show, the Internet, and the comic book.

According to Derenick, the third season marks a serious attempt to tie the events from the television show to the Smallville Ledger website and the DC comic book series. Each will fill in gaps and compliment one another more than any licensed property has ever done in the past. The Smallville Ledger features news articles from the fictional newspaper that cover events and people from episodes of the show such as the "Urban Legend" article. Says Tom Derenick: "The comic book will compliment the series by filling in the gap between episodes such as issue #5 on November 19th which follows Clark during the three month gap between season 2 and season 3. I really think these combined forms of storytelling will help make the Smallville experience more enjoyable for all fans of the series."
