July 11, 2003: Steven Wacker Talks “Justice League Adventures”

The Pulse caught up with "Justice League Adventures" Editor Steven Wacker who fills us in on what we can expect from up-coming issues of the comic book. Here's an excerpt from the interview...

Q: When you got this title as editor? Did you give any thought to changing its direction?

A: I was assistant from beginning so I wasn't that much of a change, just a short trip down the hall. I didn't have a big philosophical change. From the beginning I've believed almost everyone in the world has one great Justice League story in them. Eerything about the book cleared up a little once we started to see shows. We were ahead of the game a little with the comics and once we started seeing tone and style we could move the book in that direction. The comic has become a little more dramatic and is starting to focus on a few characters - the entire team isn't in every issue.

Basically this book gives me a chance to work with a ton of people in the industry for one month at a time, as well as being an outlet for me to try out some new people that wouldn't necessarily be able to write a comic otherwise.

Nowadays, creators' schedules are so busy that it's hard to nail some of them down to one spot. But anyone can find time to do this. It's a nice spotlight title and you're in and out in twenty two pages.

Q: What's your character wish list? Who would you like to see in an episode of Justice League Adventures?

A: Dr. Midnite - new one or classic one, Firestorm - standard one; really excited about the Adam Strange one - such a classic design lends himself to animation. Green Arrow should definitely be in the cartoon. Maybe some connection with Teen Titans cartoon or time travel thing. The legends ... characters I'd like to see more of are the JSA. Shazam, Captain Marvel. Green Lanterns a few more corps.
