"Super Sons: Escape to Landis"
Published by: DC Comics (October 6, 2020)Reviewed by: Steve Younis

"Super Sons: Escape to Landis" is the third and final book in the Super Sons trilogy by author Ridley Pearson and illustrator Ileana Gonzales.
Finishing the thrilling adventure that began in "The PolarShield Project," a mysterious new foe plans to release a deadly virus, launching the sons of the world's two greatest superheroes on their biggest mission yet!
With the news of the Four Fingers taking refuge in the land of Landis, Batkid, Superboy, and Tilly begin their journey to stop the deadly virus from being unleashed onto the world. Meanwhile, Candace has found her way to Landis and is taken underground to a group of people who still believe her to be the true queen of Landis. Our team is reunited in an action-packed adventure through the desert of Landis, an unknown terrority filled with unknown dangers!
While it does help to have read the previous two chapters in the series, Super Sons: The PolarShield Project and Super Sons: The Foxglove Mission, this final book in the series can be read on its own, as Pearson catches you up on everything you need to know at the beginning of the book.
Aimed at younger readers (grade level 3-7), "Super Sons: Escape to Landis" is a straight forward story, however I did find it jumped around quite a bit, which made the reading experience rather haphazard. While the art style is enjoyable, the transition from panel to panel was sometimes jarring, with a real lack of natural flow in the action, which definitely added to the chaotic feel to the storytelling.
The characters of Superboy and Batkid are fun, and their relationship is a highlight of the story. The supporting characters of Tilly and Candace balanced the story nicely, and I found myself intrigued by the abilities of some of the supporting characters, and the background to the nation of Landis.
While Superman, Batman and Lois Lane all play a part, they're nothing more than bit-players, allowing the Super Sons and their friends to take the spotlight.
New York Times bestselling author Ridley Pearson (Kingdom Keepers) and artist Ile Gonzalez bring an epic conclusion to a story two books in the making. From start to finish, don't miss the Super Sons of Superman and Batman springing into action on what might be their final mission!
