"She Has No Strings" - Part 2
Writer: Leah Williams
Artist: Vasco Georgiev
Power Girl has managed to escape her nightmares of the symbioship and come to terms with who she is. However, the rest of the workd is not so lucky. Insomnia still has them in a dream state that could bring about their greatest fears. "Knight Terrors: Night's End" will show how Power Girl helps the DC Universe wake up while a cybernetic organism will be searching for Power Girl in September's "Power Girl #1".
Story - 3: Sadly, for a character with as much potential as Power Girl, her more recent outing feel like those involved aren't quite sure what to do with her. This issue suffers from the same problems as the last one and much of Leah Williams' outings with Paige. There are some good moments for sure, but there's room for improvement. I didn't hate it, but I did expect more from it.
Art - 4: The art is the saving grace of this feature. It works well for this event. Had it not been a "Knight Terrors" story, it wouldn't function so well in this part of the book.
"The Stuff of Nightmares" - Part 2
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson
Artists: Mico Suayan and Fico Ossio
The Cyborg Superman is subjecting the youth of Superman's family to physical and psychological torture. Kenan is believed dead, and the Super Twins are forced to be on Warworld, believing they never arrived on Earth. Ferar intensifies as Mongul chases them. The Cyborg thinks he's won until he sees his dead wife. The Superfamily is not alone. Even Cyborg is reliving his worst nightmare, as his spouse says she always feared him. This allows the Cyborg to be defeated. The twins are awakened to discover they and the other DC superheroes will need to help wake the world in "Knight Terrors: Night's End".
Story - 3: As much as I love Philip Kennedy Johnson's work on this title, the whole company wide event of "Knight Terrors" has watered down the quality of what could otherwise be an amazing story. The two main Superman books have been incredible as of late. The crossover has just interrupted the flow of them and thereby, makes this just average. Considering it's Johnson's work I'm discussing now, that makes it better than most newer writers' average work. I did like the dreamscape changing to Warworld. Still, "Knight Terrors" is bogging down even the great books coming from DC.
Art - 3: The two artists alone are great, together their styles seem to conflict with one another. Normally I'd give a lower rating for such a thing. However, neither Suayan nor Ossio deserve that.
Cover Art - 3: Much of the main cover looks like too much is being cut into too little space in spite of the fact the art itself is decent.
Variant Cover Art - 2: The variants feel completely unnecessary this month, and the art isn't as good as it could be even from artists that I normally like.
