October 26, 2004: Superman Movie Rumors and Reports

A report at Ain't It Cool News claims that Shawn Ashmore may have possibly been cast in the role of Jimmy Olsen.

Ashmore has worked with Bryan Singer before in "X2: X-Men United" as the character Iceman. "Smallville" fans will recognize him as Eric Summers from the Season 1 episode "Leech".

Meanwhile, Superman-V claims they've found out that Brandon Routh has signed a three picture deal with Warner Bros. They claim that the third of the three Superman films he's signed on for could quite possibly be a Batman/Superman concept.

Warner Bros. has not confirmed either of the above two reports, so take them as rumors at this stage.

One thing you can take as official, is a transcript from a recent interview Bryan Singer did, where he talks about Superman and various aspects of the film. Here's an excerpt from the interview where Singer talks about the Superman costume...

Q: What about the costume, will it be the same or something original?

A: "...but it will not be the same costume. Well because today's standards you can't, fortunately I have the benefit of some of what they did, the research they did with Spider-Man, the fabrics and flexion. What is weird is when you put someone in a tight fitting outfit, no matter how defined they are, and how good their body is, a spandex, or today's 'spandex', we'll call it, actually takes your definition away, so you have to create the shading, you have to artificially, and then you have to create, no matter how built they are, you have to create still pads, some kind of, they did with Tobey, you have to create some kind of thing. But it won't be like a body suit, I mean he's the Man of Steel, bullets bounce off of him, not his suit."
