May 26, 2004: More Superman Movie Rumors
I don't know... these rumors get flakier by the minute...Today Dark Horizons adds to yesterday's rumors with a claim that Johnny Depp is actually up for the role of Jor-El, not Lex Luthor as originally thought. Today's rumor also indicates that a new draft of JJ Abrams script is more action focused while the main story-line centers around the Clark/Superman/Lois romance.
The rumor-monger also seems to think that Brendan Fraser is still involved, but not as Superman, but as a Kryptonian villain called Ty-Zor.
Meanwhile Superman-V.com have posted a report claiming that Gilbert Adler has come on board the Superman movie as Executive Producer. Adler was a Producer on the up-coming "Constantine" movie, and has also worked on "Starsky & Hutch", "Tales from the Crypt", "Thir13en Ghosts", "Ghost Ship", and "The Fountain".
Superman-V.com also seem to think that the Superman costume (being designed by Stan Winston) will reportedly be a sculptured rubber muscle suit and be of "Kryptonian Origin".
In further new, JJ Abrams spoke with Dreamwatch magazine recently and confirmed things seem to be perking up: "The movie is closer to getting made now than it's ever been. I'm crossing my fingers the movie gets made because there are a lot of really wonderful elements attached to it. I'm hoping the movie sees the light of day. I believe it will".
If you ask me, it all seems too convenient that these rumors all come out around the same time. Personally I think these "reports" are born from the bored minds of people who just want to jump on the bandwagon and make a name for themselves... I'm glad I'm archiving these "rumors", because when the movie is finally released I'm looking forward to going back over them all and pointing out all the blatantly false ones that we were burdened with.
