May 7, 2003: Other Al Gough "Smallville" Interviews

Fans who tune in for the season finale will hear a Kryptonian voice, other than Clark's, for the first time in the series run. "We're going to hear Jor-El's voice, and it's going to be an actor who's meaningful to Superman fans," Gough said. "I won't tell you who it is, but any self-respecting Superman fan should be able to name that actor once they hear the voice."
The Pulse: As for what happens in the last few episodes of this season, Gough was very tight lipped. He did say there would be answers about Martha Kent's pregnancy and exactly how it fit into the Smallville mythos in the season finale. Gough also commented this season will end with a cliffhanger, but not exactly what people might be expecting. "It will be a cliffhanger, but not like one where season three picks up immediately after season two ended. A lot of the characters will be in wildly different directions when season three premiers."
Comics Continuum:
I think it's been quite extraordinary, even when you look at Tom in the pilot, which we shot literally two years ago. And I think in Season 1 - and Tom said this himself - there was a lot of sort of on-the-job training. I think in Season 2, he really locked and loaded onto his character. The Red Kryptonite episode, which was fairly early in the season, I just think he did an extraordinary job with that. I think that certainly showed us the range and variety of performance that Tom can give you as an actor. I think he really inhabits that character now and just does an extraordinary job. Quite frankly, for someone who hadn't really acted before - he had been on six episodes of Judging Amy prior to Smallville - I think he's really come a long way.
