December 31, 2003: “Smallville” Actors Contracted for Seven Years

The Superman Homepage contacted "Smallville" Executive Producer Al Gough and asked him to comment on recent rumors about Tom Welling speaking with Howard Stern on radio about the possibility of "Smallville" being cancelled and Tom being cast in the up-coming Superman movie. With shooting on "Smallville" currently on a break until January 5th, Al had no knowledge about any Howard Stern radio interview and had this to say...

"My guess is the comments are false because I believe Howard Stern's show has been on hiatus for the last two weeks when Tom was in NYC doing press for Cheaper by the Dozen."

And as for the possibility of "Smallville" being cancelled?

"Basically, the actors are contracted for seven years, and the show isn't going anywhere, least of all to the big screen. The Warners film division has a script and a director and are doing a Superman film, complete with flights and tights. I have always believed, just like in comics publishing, that different versions of this story in different mediums can peacefully coexist."

We'll keep you posted if we hear anything more on this.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
