February 4, 2003: BBC to air “Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion”

U.K. fans of Christopher Reeve should note that BBC1 will be airing an hour-long special called "Christopher Reeve: Hope In Motion" on Sunday February 9th at 9pm.

Here's the official description for this documentary...

On May 27th 1995, Christopher Reeve, known throughout the world for his role as Superman, was paralysed from the neck down in a riding accident. Unable to breathe on his own, he has been on a ventilator ever since and was given no chance of recovery. Yet, after no signs of improvement for over 5 years, Reeve amazed the medical world by recovering slight movement in one finger.

Narrated by Reeve himself, and filmed over a year and a half, this highly intimate documentary provides a unique and personal insight into his extraordinary struggle to recover yet more movement. The programme focuses on the loving support of his family and devoted circle of aides, and his battle to get the controversial area of research on stem cells more widely accepted.

Honest, raw and moving, this is a remarkable look at the life of Christopher Reeve.
