November 12, 2014: Premature Baby Survives After Being Named Kalel

Baby Kalel The parents of a baby born 17 weeks premature were considering switching off their son's ventilator when the baby made a miraculous recovery within a day of being named after Superman.

Mum Kaye Latham, 35, went into labour at just 23 weeks and was terrified when doctors warned her there was a 50 per cent chance her baby son wouldn't survive.

Her little fighter then took a turn for the worse and medics told Kaye and fiance Scott to consider turning off his ventilator.

But the superhero fans begged for a few more days with their baby and had him christened 'Kalel' - Superman's 'real' name on the planet Krypton before he crashed to earth.

Overnight their poorly baby defied doctors to drastically improve and within days he was off his ventilator.

Now the little fighter is six months old and finally at home, but his astounded family still can't believe their little hero is alive and well.

You can watch a video with little Kalel and his mother as she discusses his traumatic entry into the world.
