October 30, 2009: Another "Smallville" Interview with Brian Peterson

IGN.com are the latest website to post a new interview with "Smallville" executive producer Brian Peterson, who answers questions about Jor-El, the Justice Society, Wonder Twins, Zod and more. Here's an excerpt from the interview...

IGN: How did you come to decide to bring in Jor-El in this new manner? Obviously he's been a presence on the show for years, but not in this form.

Peterson: Well, he made a quick appearance in "Relic", ages and ages ago, where Tom [Welling] actually played an iteration of Jor-El. And we really wanted to kind of bring his Kryptonian side a little more to the forefront this season, which is why we're bringing in Zod. He's lost the influence of his parents, as they've passed away and gone off to Washington, in the case of Martha. So we wanted to bring in his Kryptonian mentor and kind of play some of the stakes and the emotion of what's going on with Clark when it comes to the loss of his Kryptonian side that now has been kind of brought right in front of his face, which you can't do with a disembodied voice calling from ice crystals. So I think it works really nicely. The episode looks amazing and Julian Sands, we were so lucky to get him... He does an amazing portrayal of Jor-El.
