February 11, 2009: Martian Manhunter spotted at New York Comic Con
By Scotty V.At the panel for the new Cartoon Network series Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a familiar face could be seen wearing another familiar face on his shirt. That's right, actor Phil Morris, who plays John Jones, a.k.a. the Martian Manhunter on Smallville sat in on the panel and talked very briefly about his role as Jonah Hex in an upcoming episode.
The affable thespian was asked if he could do a little sample of his Jonah voice and he complied. Morris also explained that Hex as a character is going to be interesting on the show because he gets the opportunity to speak to Batman in a way many people won't expect. In general, Jonah just doesn't get Batman, says Morris, and thinks the bat costume makes the hero a bit of a "dandy." Morris brings a country twang accent to Jonah and it promises to be a very entertaining episode.
Even though Morris sported a full body shot T-Shirt with everybody's favorite green skinned hero on it, he was on this particular panel to discuss his role on B&B and at the Con to discuss his new web show "Emissary" in which he co-created, co-produces and stars in. The show is set to release in the fall and will be available for download via iTunes and other outlets.
And now, another (hopefully) familiar name (that's me!) is going to shamelessly plug an offsite project he's directing along with a second (definitely) familiar name who's writing the project called Neal Bailey. The show is Martian Manhunter: Strange Visitor and it premieres on March 18th at PendantAudio.com. If you like comics you should enjoy this series. If you haven't heard, there's also a Pendant show called Superman: Last Son of Krypton and who knows, if you're lucky, everyone's favorite red and blue blur just might appear in Martian Manhunter.
