May 22, 2009: "Smallville" Interviews at The CW Upfronts

With the official announcement at The CW's Upfronts that "Smallville" will be moving to a new timeslot of Friday 8.00pm for its 9th season, The CW's president Dawn Ostroff confronted media about the new schedule. IGN.com posted the following details about Ostroff's comments...

Ostroff said that the upcoming Season 9 was not necessarily the final one for the show, which has remained remarkably resilient. Comparing Smallville to the shows it is replacing on Fridays, Everybody Hates Chris and The Game, Ostroff said, "I think Smallville will do better. Smallville has a very strong fanbase. A different audience, certainly. But I think the Smallville audience is very loyal. The show's gonna be in its ninth season. I think that [the fans] will probably show up on Friday nights. Plus the promotion from [Thursday night shows] Vampire Diaries and Supernatural into Smallville on Friday really made sense for us."

Chicago's WGN TV interviewed Erica Durance (Lois Lane) and Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen) at The CW's upfronts to ask them about the show's move to Friday nights for Season 9.
