June 21, 2006: Urgent! Superman Animation Alert!

Hey, folks. Neal here. Knowing some of the people we do in the business and speaking on terms of anonymity, it's come to our attention from an EXTREMELY reliable source that the future of DC related animation is in jeopardy.

It starts with Krypto, and it ends, as many of you sadly know, with the fan-favorites like JLU, Teen Titans, and even the new Legion show, if we don't get out there and show our support!

I've received information that "Krypto: The Superdog", the first target, is near cancellation, and said cancellation hinges on whether we, as a fan community, get out there and respond to the property.

So what? You say. I don't like Krypto!

Well, it's more than that. You know how execs work. You know how moronic Hollywood can be. I mean, look at Superman Returns! It took them the better part of twenty years, because they said Superman was too uncool, or that they needed to change a classic. And besides, how can you NOT like Krypto?

So too goes the logic that if Krypto fails, we might as well not do a new Superman cartoon. Or a new Justice League movie. You dig?

Let's save that show, and let's get Superman BACK in animated form beyond Brainiac Attacks! We're 30,000 unique visitors strong in a given day, and I KNOW we can do it.

And here's how:

  1. Buy DVDs.

Yes. This is the most to ask for. It's rough, because it impacts your pocket, I know. But DVD sales translates to interest with execs. Look at what it did for Family Guy.

Buy the KRYPTO first season collection! Buy TEEN TITANS! Buy Justice League!

The Krypto set is under fifteen bucks, and I KNOW that if you bought a hardcover of "For Tomorrow" you can spring for that to save a good property and help get Superman back into animation!

  2. Write letters.

This is the best option if you're poor, like me. Simply write a letter and send it to the WB urging them to renew Krypto and bring back Superman, and send it to this address:

Save Krypto c/o Programming Cartoon Network
1050 Techwood Dr. NW Atlanta, GA 30318

Or, barring that, send this letter. It's a form letter, so it will mean less to the executives, but it's still a statement:

      Dear WB:

It's come to my attention that there's a chance Krypto might not be renewed. PLEASE do not cancel this show! If anything, keep it, and bring back more Superman related animation! I'll do whatever I can to support the continuation of these shows in the future, if you'll pledge to keep making this media that I enjoy.

      Sincerely,
      YOUR NAME

  3. Post.

On the message board, leave your message supporting Krypto and WB animation. We'll collect them and send them along.

Even Newsarama.com are getting in on the act. Check out their indepth article on the whole situation.

Thanks, now let's DO this!
