July 17, 2006: Green Arrow Coming to “Smallville” and Creators Q&A

Yet another DC Comics character will make his way onto the TV show "Smallville".

The July 24th edition of TV Guide (with Tom Welling on one of the 4 available covers) reveals that Green Arrow will be making an appearance in an up-coming 6th season episode.

"He will start to form the nascent Justice League," executive producer Alfred Gough told TV Guide. "He's trying to find like-minded people with special powers and put a more formal structure in place."

"Ultimately Clark will see the value of what he is trying to do," said Gough. "But as he's gotten older, Clark has become more cautious. He will always be there to help out, but he doesn't want to be part of a formalized organization."

Actor Justin Hartley has been cast in the role of Oliver Queen. Interestingly, Hartley was the actor cast for the now-defunct Aquaman TV series that Al Gough and Miles Miller were creating.

Meanwhile, the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television Summer Program invites you and a guest to a special Panel Q&A about the hit TV series "Smallville" starring Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk.

Held on July 23, 2006 (2:00PM - 5:00PM) the TV Panel Q&A with the creators of SMALLVILLE will include Series Creators and Executive Producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, plus Executive Producer Greg Beeman and Co-Executive Producers Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Kelly Souders. The panel will be moderated by Tara McPherson, Chair of the Cinema-Television Crtitical Studies Division.

This event will take place in the Norris Theatre/Sinatra Hall on Sunday, July 23rd, from 2:00PM - 5:00PM. The Q&A will be preceded by two episodes of "Smallville" hand-picked by the panelists.

This event is FREE to all Cinema-Television and Summer Program students and alumni, however, RSVPs are REQUIRED.
