July 11, 2006: “Krypto The Superdog - Volume 2: Superheroes Unleashed” DVD
AMERICA'S FAVORITE COSMIC CANINE RETURNS TO DVD WITH THE RELEASE OF KRYPTO, THE SUPERDOG VOLUME 2Featuring Five Episodes from the Popular Cartoon Network TV Series for Preschoolers Available on DVD October 24
Armed with over a half century of crime-fighting experience on TV, Krypto, Superman's dog, is ready to fight crime for the second time around on DVD. Krypto the Superdog Volume 2, based on the popular Cartoon Network TV series, will be available on DVD October 24, 2006 from Warner Home Video (WHV). The DVD will be cross-trailered on all WHV Superman releases in 2006. The five-episode compilation will be priced to own at $14.97 SRP with order due date September 19.
Krypto is a Superdog from Planet Krypton, who comes to earth after traveling across the galaxies as a test pilot puppy aboard a malfunctioning rocket ship built by Superman's father. Years later when the rocket finally reaches Earth, Krypto is a full-grown dog. With no family, he finds a new friend in a young boy named Kevin Whitney who soon realizes that Krypto has super powers. With the help of Kevin, Ace the Bathound (Batman's Caped Canine), Streaky the neighbor's cat and the Super Pets in the Dog Star Patrol, Krypto responds to the call of duty and embarks on an adventure to save those in need.
"With the DVD release of Superman Returns later this year, we could not think of a better time to be cross-promoting the second volume of this animated series on DVD," said Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing. "Krypto is such an iconic figure to preschoolers but also maintains his status in the animation world and with the Superman fan base."
Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved Super Heroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space. Superman Returns flew into theaters on June 28, 2006.
