September 30, 2010: Nominate Siegel and Shuster for "Great Ohioan" Award

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster The goal of the Capitol Square Foundation's "Great Ohioan" Award is to commemorate the significant role of Ohioans in an event or series of events of lasting significance in World.

Who better to receive this award than Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two teenage boys living in Cleveland, Ohio during the 1930s when they collaborated to create Superman, arguably one of the world's most recognizable and enduring fictional characters.

The Capitol Square Foundation Great Ohioans Committee will select two nominees from each category to submit up to the full Board for approval. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, the oversight body for the Ohio Statehouse, will select the final award winners with a majority vote. The Great Ohioan Award recipients will be announced and recognized in January 2011.
