December 11, 2014: Tom Taylor Out - Brian Buccellato In - "Injustice"

Injustice Chapter #14 (Print Edition #7) of "Injustice: Gods Among Us - Year Three" will be Tom Taylor's final outing as writer of the popular digital-first comic book saga, with Brian Buccellato stepping in to take over the series.

According to DC Comics, Taylor's heavy workload is the reason behind his departure on the title, which he launched back in January 2013 as a tie-in to the popular video game of the same name.

IGN.com has published an interview with incoming writer Brian Buccellato, who will be working closely with Taylor during this transition period, picking up the Year Three story outline. Here's an excerpt from the interview...

IGN: How much can readers expect the voice and style of Injustice to shift as you take over?

Buccellato: Obviously we each have unique voices, our own sense of humor, and bring our own bag of tricks to the table. But I don't think the shift will be major. There are subtle differences in how Tom sets up and pays off comedic moments, and so the shift will likely be in how I deliver my brand of humor. Tom is masterful at what he does and I am not going to try and emulate him. Instead my goal is to integrate my creative sensibilities into the universe he has so deftly crafted.

IGN: Injustice is a tricky comic in that the end point of the story is already known. Are you finding it challenging to keep delivering twists and surprises while working within those limits?

Buccellato: I'll let you know in Year Four and Five. Honestly, writing a story where the end point is already known isn't the bad kind of challenge because when you sit down to write, you SHOULD know where your characters are going to end up. In my experience, storytelling starts with a set up, a character with a goal and an ultimate resolution... I find having a clear ending helpful as I creatively problem solve the story.
