August 24, 2014: "Action Comics #1" Sells for $3.2 Million in Ebay Auction
The Ebay auction for a 9.0 VF/NM graded 1938 edition of "Action Comics #1" has concluded, with the winning bid finishing at a record price of US$3,207,852.00.The previous record price of $2.16 million was achieved in 2011 for a different copy of "Action Comics #1" which was owned by Nicolas Cage. While Cage's copy was also rated 9.0 by the Certified Guaranty Company, the Cage issue had "cream to off-white pages", where the copy sold today is described as having "perfect white pages".
The issue, one of less than 50 unrestored copies believed to remain today, was sold by Darren Adams who owns Pristine Comics in Federal Way, Seattle.
