Hugh Jackman

April 16, 2003: Jackman Drops Out of George Reeves Film

IGN FilmForce reports that Hugh Jackman has dropped out of the filming of "Truth, Justice and the American Way" due to the fact that the movie he's currently making is running behind schedule. Here's an excerpt from the report...

Hugh Jackman is no longer attached to star as the late Superman star George Reeves in Focus Features' biopic Truth, Justice & the American Way. The picture, which is still searching for a director, had been set for a June start. Jackman, we've been told, was quite eager to make the film despite bearing very little resemblance to the man he would've portrayed. So how did Truth lose Jackman?

We were advised that the picture Jackman is currently filming in Prague, Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing, "has run way over-schedule" so the window of opportunity Jackman had to make Truth this summer isn't there anymore. Jackman is scheduled to portray the late entertainer Peter Allen onstage this fall, effectively ruling out pushing back the start date for Truth.

However, one of the website's sources did say that the loss of Jackman would be a temporary setback and not a fatal blow to the project.
