M. Night Shyamalan

September 17, 2003: M. Night Shyamalan to do Superman Movie?

Anyone who visits this site often knows well enough that I'm not one to start spreading rumors of my own making, and whenever I do post news about rumors started elsewhere I always do so with a general warning to take it with a grain of salt.

The Superman Homepage in collaboration with the Superman-V.com website have managed to dig up what we believe to be the identity of the new writer/director for the up-coming Superman movie, hinted at by Mark Millar on his official website.

M. Night Shyamalan

This is not confirmed, but various sources and information shared between myself and the guys running Superman-V.com, lead us to believe that M. Night Shyamalan is writing and directing this new Superman movie.

My sources confidently tell me to ignore rumors that McG and JJ Abrams are still attached to this film. For example, SuperHeroHype has just reported on a new rumor regarding production on the Superman movie, which their source claims to be titled: "Kal-El: Genesis of Superman". To their credit, SuperHeroHype warn readers to take this latest rumor with a grain of salt.

My colleagues at Superman-V.com have posted their own article about M. Night Shyamalan's appointment. Here's a quick excerpt from their report...

Shyamalan's quite the Superman nut, having a two-foot statue of the Man of Steel in his office and writing the introduction for Alex Ross' upcoming "Mythology" book.

M. Night, who's previous films include Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs, is currently prepping The Woods (starring WB favourite Ashton Kutcher) meaning IF he came on to Superman, Summer 2006 would be the earliest we could expect it.
